A software manufacturer has three products that can be used to create web-based systems. The products are a web server, a message queueing system, and a relational database system. A project is to be set up to integrate these products into a package for customers to prototype their own e-business systems. The project is owned by the developers of the message queueing software. The general direction of e-business strategy is located elsewhere in the company, and its main preoccupation at present is business-to-business communication, but provisional approval for the development of the package has been given. An experienced project manager has been appointed, but he has no special technical knowledge of the subject area. The technical team leader has a wide range of development experience, particularly in message queueing systems. A team is gradually being put together, but most of them have only superficial knowledge of the products being integrated, though they have development experience with other products.
